About Emerson

Emerson Gausmann (they/them) is a St. Louis-based actor, singer, and multidisciplinary musician. They graduated from Eastern Illinois University in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre Arts. They have collegiate training in classical voice, musical theatre, acting, flute, music composition, and pedagogy.

Currently, Emerson maintains a private voice studio and teaches voice and beginning piano at 88 Keys Academy in O’Fallon, IL. Their recent theatrical performances include Children of Eden (Lincoln Center), Dead Man’s Cell Phone (Eastern Illinois University), Children of Eden (Eastern Illinois University), The Wind in the Willows (Theatre in the Park - Charleston, IL), and The Music Man (Fr. As a performer and educator, Emerson prioritizes mindfulness and embodiment. They believe in the power of the somatic processes of breath and movement to inform and strengthen an artist’s performance.

Emerson also invests in representation within creative spaces. They wrote their undergraduate thesis on contemporary art song written by marginalized and underrepresented composers, and make continued efforts to uplift and invest in marginalized voices.
